When he was only six weeks old, his parents moved back to their native Nigeria, taking young Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje with them. In Nigeria, he was raised by foster family while his parents pursued their careers. At age 15, he returned to London. Although his parents were Nigerian of Yoruba origin, they moved back to the UK, because living in Great Britain provided him with opportunities that he otherwise would not have had living in Nigeria. He is a large, physically imposing individual with a deep, incredible voice, and amazing charisma. The dimension, is very good-looking, and used his looks to make money modelling, to help him through his higher education. Perhaps his first television appearance was in 1992, when he appeared in EnVogue's music video, "Giving Him Something He Can Feel" as well as Mary J. Blige's "Love No Limit". This helped to embolden his modelling work, which opened the door to acting roles.

He attended King's College in London, achieved a law degree there, and pursued his Masters in Law at the University of London. In spite of his incredible intelligence and law degrees, he then became an actor, having been cast in the Paramount Pictures smash hit, Congo. Also known for his role as Mr. Eko on the ABC survivor series Lost, Nykwana Wombosi, the deposed African dictator, in The Bourne Identity and as Simon Adebisi on the HBO prison series, Oz.

In addition to these popular credits, he has appeared in numerous films, since he began his acting career in 1994. He appeared as Hitu, a police officer in the second Ace Ventura movie, When Nature Calls, Heavy Duty in the G.I. Joe movie, The Rise of Cobra and Lock-Nah in The Mummy Returns. To add to this impressive list of appearances, it also made appearances in Legionnaire, HBO's Deadly' Voyage, the TV series Cracker: Mind Over Murder, New York Undercover, and the ABC miniseries, 20,000 leagues under the Sea. His next appearance is anticipated to be in Warner Bros. movie, Bullet to the Head, alongside Christian Slater, Holt McCallany and Sylvester Stallone, and recently did a voiceover for a character in The Pirates! Band of Misfits that was released in March. Recently, it was rumoured that he was speaking with Marvel Studios to play the role of Black Panther in a new film of the same name. The premise behind Black Panther is a black superhero from an imaginary village in Africa. Although there has not been confirmation as of yet that Black Panther will be filmed or that Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje will get the leading role, it is definitely something to keep an eye out for. Also he has been cast in the THOR II DARKWORLD as the powerful Algrim the Strong .

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje's impressive talent continues, because he recently

starred opposite Billy Bob Horton and Dwayne Johnson in the movie, Faster. Although he has been given the nickname of the "action figure actor", it does not slow him down, and his strength, talent and presence continues, regardless of the appearances that he makes. He has received two NAACP Image Award nominations, received the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance and he speaks several languages, including a bit of French, Yoruban and Italian. It has also been rumoured that Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje is going to begin directing a new film that will highlight his life story. This will certainly be a movie to keep an eye out for, because even just attempting to imagine the hardships that he endured while his parents were pursuing careers and he was living with a foster family in Nigeria, then moving back to London and becoming a resounding success, what a story that would be. Like everyone else, you will just have to wait and see, and enjoy watching Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje on the big screen in all of his movies, series and even listening to his voice over, until his next movie comes out.
