Its so obvious when you listen to his sound the MARVIN GAYE, PRINCE and GOSPEL JAZZ, FUNK sound that have influenced D Angelo’s music but its the way he fused them together that had the world of soul music and indeed the rest of us spellbound .Of late its been whats happening in the mans personal life that most have been checking out. Those lovers of all things soulful have been wondering when will he get back into the studio and give us another taste of some good music, music that can only come from this man. Born Michael Eugene Archer born February 11 1974 but known as D Angelo of a Pentecostal preacher and began is career right there in church, in his teens he would sign a record deal with EMI later he would release his first album BROWN SUGAR of which was not just critically acclaim- ed but commercially a huge success for the artist With hits like brown sugar ,you’re my lady & cruisin and others He would later follow this up with LIVE AT THE JAZZ CAFÉ in 1998 then as the year 2000 rolled around he would blind us with the album VOODOO for these two albums he would be labelled the black Jesus and one of the god fathers of NEO SOUL. He has surely left a mark on the music world and it will be great to have him back helping to push music to a whole new level. He ha a new album that is being completed and I’m sure we ill all be pleased,but it seems some prsonal issue may need to be sorted first.
