I have been rather busy recently but here’s is an album I have been listening to JAMES DAY .JAMES FIRST album (BETTER DAYS) was such a great gem, and one of best releases to be put out on the EXPANSION RECORDS label .After the release of BETTER DAYS I was slightly worried that he may not be able to reach the dizzy heights of that album yet gladly he has proved me wrong with this brilliant set. Every song is an A plus, my favourite killer song has to be SPEAK LOVE a great hook, positive lyrics and  great vocals by MIKELYN RODERICK  it has such a great vibe that I’m left constantly  replaying it. NATURAL THING  the album title is another stunner  with AUDREY WHEELER taking lead here and to make things  good and funky theirs OUTTA THE FUNK  which is a must say a throwback to those  funky days YES! Is all I can say whilst this plays.Speaking of those i can still remember  a quote from james day when speaking about todays music . "The LP's I grew up with, full of rich chords, moving melodies, lush vocal arrangements, and well crafted lyrics, had been replaced by CD's put together by track makers, beat programmers and samplers with words 'slapped on' that rarely seemed to move me the way the music I grew up with did. It just didn't seem to have the same level of care & musicianship that went into the records of my idols." So Day made it his mission to re-establish the role of the songwriter and arranger in popular music. Working on a shoestring budget but with a passion for his project, in 2005 Day recruited a number of established vocalists and put together his first project, the four-song EP Remember When.Back to the  new album  HAPPY ON HOLD  featuring JEFF RAMSEY & U-NAM is another dam fine track  that’s so infectious. Like I said all the songs here are A plus and its soooo good to hear someone really bringing it back, yet at the same time bringing things up to date. JAMES DAY is truly a talented man and surrounded himself with top talented people   and so I hope radio stations will give the songs on this album a good blasting on the airways and let people hear good soul music again .This is so good I dare you to buy it and not like it.
