LEON WARE - MUSIC I,M LISTENING TO 2008

For me one of this years highlights was seeing the return of LEON WARE (born 6th February 1940 Michigan USA) this dude for me is still an underrated singer, producer and song writer yet whilst some might say Leon who? Many will know him for his work with a certain MARVIN GAYE, MICHEAL JACKSON and more recently he worked with MAXWELL showing just what a talent he has always been. Someone of Leon ware’s calibre will always shine. For me it was 1982 as I was sitting up listening to ROBBIE VINCENT as he played a song from the then release album of LEON WARE that song was WHY I CAME TO CALIFORNIA this prompted me to see what other nuggets of gold I could find and like another favourite artist of mine LAMONT DOZIER he has a large body of work checkout his album MUSICAL MASSAGE and that it is. INSIDE LOVE is another timeless piece you might want to listen to and his IN DEEP set of a few years ago. Hess back with a new album MOON RIDE released through stax/concord apparently this was to be a compilation of his old material but when the head people heard some of his new material they changed there minds ,and so they should with a quality act like this. This album is one is best to date and you wont find a bad song on it my favourite song are (and this was hard to choose  from the groovy MOON RIDE to the dreamy HOLD TONIGHT to the latin jazz I NEVER LOVE SO MUCH all the to URBAN NIGHTS people this is some dope grooves that i just luv.from a recent interview  with david nathan  courtesy of BLUES AND SOULleon ware had this to say at the end

What I’m loving now is realizing that the music and the sentiments in it are timeless. It’s staggering when I stop and think about the people the music touches from all walks of life. It is such a fulfillment to know that my work has meaning and that you’ll never how many people you’ve touched, people whose names you’ll never know.”
