For me one of the most anticipated returns this year has been without a doubt MAXWELL his take of Neo/soul music and music in general leaves many just ashamed of the material they put out. He brings sophistication and a raw energy with a smooth edge and heavy undertones that no else has .Gone as has been we have all seen the afro cool look he made so famous back in the 90s . Replaced by a more mature look and a sound that simply is sublime next to excellence. PRETTYWINGS is take from the upcoming album BLACK SUMMER NIGHTS and judging from that we can expect and fantastic treat. The new album ill be a trilogy. MAXWELL RIVERA BORN 23RD MAY 1973 NEWYORK USA .he was by all accounts a very shy young man and was also a very religious one after the death of his father in 1976,Like so many excellent artist his interest in music started at a young age .By 1994 he signed a contract with COLUMBIA RECORDS and began work on what is now known as a critically acclaimed album MAXWELL URBAN HANG SUIT work with such greats such as MELVIN WHA WAH WATSON and LEON WARE although the album was completed in early 90s it was released in 1996 and maybe this was a

good thing ,yet to be honest music that was hat good it wouldn’t have mattered it still would have been a huge hit. Two years later he released EMBRYA again to critical success followed by the unplugged set, he would later score big with the R KELLY written song FORTUNATE its all to easy to notice the PRINCE and MARVIN GAYE influence through out his music yet he hasn’t copied he’s made it his own. MAXWELL has since retreated from site living by all accounts a normal life whilst also charging those batteries ready for another assault on the musical world .This reminds me of how a certain STEVIE WONDER would tae long periods between projects not being force to put out substandard material rather the very best. Must say I cant wait to sample the new good s MAXWELL has embarked on a tour despite not actually releasing the new material yet but those who do get to see him are in for a special treat. MAXWELL is not his real name that I don’t think will ever be revealed.
