Since MARVEL announce that it was going ahead with the captain America movie rumours have been flying about as to whom would get the part DOLPH LUNDGREN was ridiculously mentioned at some point(lol).this morning I here that none other than will smith has been offered the role. At first I was like "YEAH RIGHT " then hey this would be interesting a brother as CAPTIAN AMERICA .Yet I cant help but feel sceptical about this WILL SMITH is anything but smart and I’m not sure another superhero movie is in the pipeline for him having just done HANCOCK this summer .Yet who knows the thought of playing a role that for many symbolised America,s war against the evil, that was the Nazis dressed in a American flag not a white male but, as an
African American with all the supposed values that any American would have, and doing it the Will smith way. By the way there hasn’t been a black captain America ever in the comics (OR HAS THERE) well neither has there been a black president in the Whitehouse but doesn’t mean that the two could not happen does it ( TIME TRAVEL! there is a BLACK PRESIDENT IN THE WHITE HOUSE SEEMS ONE HAS HAPPENED). I wonder how fans of the character will take this, some didn’t like the thought of Mathew McConaughey/Leonardo DiCaprio playing the role, and here was I thinking bring him on. He might just pull it off , with will in the running at last a brother taking on the Nazis for all to see. The movie will take place in World War II which will make a great setting for the movie. To be totally honest when i think of captain america i do see him a s white .ps NOT THAT HE SHOULD ALWAYS BE THOUGH.
HERE IT IS THE SYNOPSIS FOR THE MOVIE
Born during the Great Depression, Steve Rogers grew up a frail youth in a poor family. Horrified by the newsreel footage of the Nazis in Europe, Rogers was inspired to enlist in the army. However, because of his frailty and sickness, he was rejected. Overhearing the boy's earnest plea, General Chester Phillips offered Rogers the opportunity to take part in a special experiment... Operation: Rebirth.
After weeks of tests, Rogers was at last administered the Super-Solider Serum and bombarded by 'vita-rays.' Steve Rogers emerged from the treatment with a body as perfect as a body can be and still be human. Rogers was then put through an intensive physical and tactical training program. Three months later, he was given his first assignment as Captain America. Armed with his indestructible shield and battle savvy, Captain America has continued his war against evil both as a sentinel of liberty and as leader of the Avengers.
l do think that will be a factor in it. As long as we have the freedom to cast the best actor for the part. Whether it's an actor who's been a great actor, but hasn't starred in marquee action movies before like Robert Downey, or somebody that came out of Australia that we've never heard of." Kevin then went on to mention Will Smith, relating how much he loves the "Truth" storyline, which introduced a black Captain America that pre-dates Steve Rogers, "I love the 'Truth' storyline. I think that's very cool. I wouldn't do that as a first Captain America movie though. I think that arc came about four or five hundred issues into the "Cap" run. I don't see us launching with that particular comic."
UPDATE
IN A RECEN ITERVIEW WITH MY FRIENDS OVER AT BOX OFFICE JOE JOHNSON HAD THIS TO SAY ABOUT CAPTAIAN AMERICA
It's not going to be a Captain America that you expect. It's something different. It is influenced by the comic book, but it goes off in a completely different direction. It's the origin story of Captain America. It's mostly period—there are modern, present-day bookends on it—but it's basically the story of how Steve Rogers becomes Captain America. The great thing about Captain America is he's a super hero without any super powers. Which is why this story, among the hundreds of super hero stories, appealed to me the most. He can't fly, he can't see through walls, he can't do any of that stuff. He's an every man who's been given this amazing gift of transformation into the perfect specimen—the pinnacle of human perfection. How does that affect him? What does that mean for him emotionally and psychologically? He was this 98-pound weakling, he was this wimp, and he's transformed instantly into this Adonis. You'd think he got everything he wanted. Well, he didn't get everything he wanted. The rules change at that point and his life gets even more complicated and dire. For me, that's the interesting part of the story. It's got some great action sequences in it and some incredible stuff that we've never seen before. But at the heart of it, it's a story about this kid who all he wants to do is fit in. This thing happens and he still doesn't fit in. And he has to prove himself a hero—essentially go AWOL to save a friend. Eventually at the very end, I don't want to give away to much, but he does fit in. But it's the journey of getting him there that's interesting. And it's a lot of fun. READ MORE

It appears that the RED SKULL will be the villian and the INVADERS will feature .Does this sound like a an AVENGER movie buildup bring it on . I dont know about you but i am just as interested in who will play the red skull this dude needs to be as mean as they come he must embody all that is wrong in the world today and be as warped as possible.Yet make sense in a way we want an extreme version of CAPTAIN AMERICA himself somone as dark as the say the JOKER was in BATMAN accept this dude can dish out pain and enjoys it.I think finding someone to equally fill that role who at the same time seems unbeatable cans somtimes be the master stroke of any film like this how is this mangoing to be defeated.
in another recent interview JOE JOHNSTON had this to say about the CAPTAIN AMERICAS character and who he is. So he’s up on stage doing songs and dances with chorus girls and he can’t wait to get out and really fight. When he does go AWOL, he covers up the suit but then, after a few things happen, he realizes that this uniform allows him to lead. By then, he’s become a star in the public mind and a symbol. The guys get behind him because he embodies something special.” There will be more than one costume in the film, too. In the first USO sequences, the frustrated patriot will be wearing a version that is closer to the classic Jack Kirby-designed costume, but then later as the super-soldier hits the war zone he will be wearing a sturdier, more muted version that he makes himself that is more like battle togs. The stripes across his mid-section, for instance, will be straps, not colored fabric. “He realizes the value of the uniform symbols but he modifies his suit and adds some armor, it will be closer to the Cpa costume in some of the comics in more recent years . . . this approach, it’s the only way we could justify ever seeing him on a screen in tights, with the funny boots and everything. The government essentially puts him up there as a living comic-book character and he rips it off and then reclaims some of its imagery after he recognizes the value of it. We think it’s the best way to keep the costume and explain it at the same time.” On Casting: “Well, we’re testing five or six guys,” Johnston said. “The youngest is 23, the oldest is 32. Most of the guys in the war are just kids, 18 or 19, but we want to go a little bit older.
The costume is a flag, but the way we’re getting around that is we have Steve Rogers forced into the USO circuit. After he’s made into this super-soldier, they decide they can’t send him into combat and risk him getting killed. He’s the only one and they can’t make more. So they say, ‘You’re going to be in this USO show’ and they give him a flag suit. He can’t wait to get out of it.”
UPDATE In a recent interview JOE JOHNSTON said this about the character of CAPTAIN AMERICA He's a guy that wants to serve his country, but he's not a flag-waver. We're reinterpreting, sort of, what the comic book version of Steve Rogers was." This was somthing he had alluded to about CAP in an earlier interview ,yet i cant help but feel a slight uneasyness about that after all this was the 40`s and most men could not wait to get on the battle field and fight the so called evil NAZIS , this was considered an honor to enlist and do what you can for your country, what i would have preffered to see is CAPTAIN AMERICA going from a flag waver to someone who then over a course of time see`s that this is not always the way to get hings done and that war no matter how someone aurgues the need for it, is in itself damaging.Whilst keeping in that spirit of the comics that evil must be stopped rather than giving cap and attitude from the get go show how he actually develops that attitude as a need to survive. Then carry this into the Avengers develop this more. *********************************************************************************************************
The movie will be shot right here in the UK and he will most likely cast a complete unknwon for the part MORE news CHRIS EVANS who played JOHNNY STROM in THE FANTASTIC FOUR MOVIE will become captain america also Sebastian Stan will play Bucky in the movie Chris Evans had this to day about his role
I think Marvel is doing a lot of good things right now, and it's a fun character. Even if it wasn't a comic book. I think the story of Steve Rogers is great. He's a great guy. Even if it was just a script about anybody, I would probably want to do it. So it wasn't necessarily about the comic itself. He's a great character. He's a great character to play. He just happens to be a comic book character."
r It goes on to tell the origin of the Red Skull. " The Red Skull was born Johann Schmidt. Ironically, Steve Rogers and Johann Schmidt could have been brothers. Both came from poverty. Both suffered rejection for their lack of strength and power. And both were chosen to become more than average men. But, unlike the man who would become Captain America, Johann was born into hatred as much as poverty. Were it not for the doctor who delivered him Johann would have been murdered, only minutes after being born, by his own father. Johann's father, a man whose senses had long been dulled by the siren call of alcohol, blamed the child for the death of his mother. Martha was the wife Hermann Schmidt repeatedly beat and abused yet claimed to love. Hermann killed himself the next day. The doctor took Johann to an orphanage where the child remained until the age of seven. Seven years is the age of reason, some "As a bellboy in an era pregnant with the hint and rumor of war, Johann was given the "honor" of serving refreshments to certain members of the growing ranks of the Third Reich, including Adolf Hitler. "Hitler's pride in creating the Skull, in time, turned to jealous fear. Hitler had believed he had seen something of himself in that bellboy's eyes years before. But he was wrong. The Red Skull by this point had risen within the ranks to become Hitler's second-in-command. And Hitler knew this man who once served him would not rest until he himself was Uberman. Until he himself was the master of the Master Race.
umor has it that HUGO WEAVER is to play the role as THE RED SKULL well perfect casting i would say although i `m not to hot on some of the names being cast as CAPTAIN AMERICA i hope they get it right but this looks like a very good choice."He has been called the most evil man who ever lived. The symbol of hate. The incarnation of torture. A bane to all those who would live free from tyranny. And therefore, it should come as no surprise that he is the sworn enemy of the land of the free's protector of liberty, Captain America."
say. To Johann it was the age of madness. "Johann's means of living on the streets, sleeping outdoors and jail sometimes for petty crimes. It then goes on to say, "As a young man, Johann went to work for a shopkeeper, a Jewish businessman whose daughter was perhaps the only person who ever showed Johann any kindness at all. When she rebuffed his affections, he rewarded her kindness by killing her. This was Johann's first murder. More it was his first moment of....joy."
Hitler saw something of himself in the young man and decided to mentor the bellhop in all things murderous. He gave the boy a mask, a mask the color of blood. And so...the Red Skull was born."
Baron Wolfgang Von Strucker, one of Hitler's greatest officers in the Reich, had fallen from Hitler's grace. But not from the Skull's. The Skull sent him to Japan to create a subversive organization that would one day be known as Hitler's paranoia regarding the Skull and his own limitations led to the decision that should he not win the world, he would destroy it. This resulted in the creation of a number of weapons that were buried only to resurface years later. These were robots of mass destruction known as Sleepers. These doomsday weapons were "lost" when Captain America tracked the Skull down to his hidden bunker and defeated him. The Skull, spitting his vengeance through blood and broken bone, was caught in the cave-in. He was believed lost forever. This was the first death of the Red Skull. The Red Skull unknowingly, had become a Sleeper himself. For the cave-in released an experimental gas that so slowed the Skull's aging process that he virtually became an immortal. It was during this state of suspended animation that his wounds slowly healed." click here for more
