After seeing THE LORD OF THE RINGS it was only going to be a matter of time before THE HOBBIT was also unleashed upon the world and so now we have details of who is directing the epic movie and who will re-appear from the RINGS trilogy? I was hoping peter Jackson would continue where he left off yet that seems to not be happening Guillermo del Toro will have the honour. So here goes then Local Shire Hobbit Bilbo Baggins, relative of Frodo Baggins, is living a quiet, peaceful life until Gandalf the Grey walks into his home with a band of wandering dwarfs and drags poor Bilbo into a quest that entails defeating a dragon, a three way battle of men, dwarfs and monsters and, most importantly of all, lead Bilbo into contact with a peculiar ring that has had and will have a great impact on the future of their world . Sir IAN MCKELLEN has said that the spot for BILBO BAGGINS has gone and that we will all like the choice hmmm sounds good to here, yet on a separate note new of a possible MGN demise could a spanner in the works .Even though the legal matters between the Tolkien estate and the studios seemed to have been settled. For now I will settle with the fact that all is still well, and look forward to seeing the movie.
so far ANDY SERKIS and SIR IAN McKELLEAN have been cast After delay and delays i guess it was coming down to somthing happening and the recent news is not suprising

NEWS “In light of ongoing delays in the setting of a start date for filming ‘The Hobbit,’ I am faced with the hardest decision of my life. After nearly two years of living, breathing and designing a world as rich as Tolkien’s Middle Earth, I must, with great regret, take leave from helming these wonderful pictures. I remain grateful to Peter [Jackson], Fran [Walsh], and Philippa Boyens, New Line and Warner Brothers and to all my crew in New Zealand. I’ve been privileged to work in one of the greatest countries on earth with some of the best people ever in our craft and my life will be forever changed. The blessings have been plenty, but the mounting pressures of conflicting schedules have overwhelmed the time slot originally allocated for the project. Both as a co-writer and as a director, I wish the production nothing but the very best of luck and I will be the first in line to see the finished product. I remain an ally to it and its makers, present and future, and fully support a smooth transition to a new director.” |
